Safeguarding Of Vulnerable Adults (S.O.V.A.)

 

Content:

 

  • Understand the role, responsibilities and boundaries of the worker with regard to safeguarding individuals from danger, harm and abuse

  • Understand the role, responsibilities and boundaries of the worker with regard to recognising potential and actual danger, harm and abuse

  • Understand the role and responsibilities and boundaries of others with regard to safeguarding individuals from danger, harm and abuse

  • Understand the sources of support for the worker following disclosure or discovery of abuse

  • Understand the different types of abuse / harm

  • Understand that ANYONE may be at risk of abuse

  • Understand the importance of recognising the indicators of abuse/harm

  • Understand the factors which can affect the individual, carer or social care worker that may lead to harm or abuse

  • Understand the effects of abuse on individuals

  • Understand the factors which affect the development of values and social norms, both for people who use services and for workers. These must be set in the context of safeguarding individuals from danger, harm and abuse.

  • Understand how the points above influence how situations may be perceived as abusive and therefore protected

  • Understand that regardless of perceptions, an objective and professional response is required in situations of potential and actual danger, harm and abuse

  • Understand the legislation, regulations and guidance that govern the safeguarding of vulnerable adults from danger, harm and abuse

  • Understand the organisation’s policies and procedures with regard to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults from danger, harm and abuse
