Content:

 

  • Describe the principles of maintaining the nutritional and hydration status of the adult

  • Discussed the National Minimum Standards of meals and mealtimes

  • Demonstrate an awareness of the principles of good nutrition and hydration

  • Describe the importance of good food for wellbeing

  • Identify the conditions which may lead to the malnutrition malhydration

  • Outline basic principles of anatomy and physiology related to the absorption of food and fluids

  • Describe the processes of food and water usage by the body

  • Demonstrate an understanding of tissue and bone repair and replacement

  • Describe the principles of assisting an individual to eat, and overcoming reluctance to eat

  • Describe the social and enjoyment aspects of eating

  • Describe the social and enjoyment aspects of eating

  • Describe their role in helping individuals to choose food safely, including identification of hazards, risk and control measures

  • Describe their role in reporting and recording any monitoring procedures and untoward incidents.
